Overview:

  • Freetown 57MW heavy-oil fuel power plant.
  • The project involves the construction and operation of a 57MW power plant in an industrial zone 4km east of Freetown.
  • The project is being developed initially with a 57MW capacity with an option to expand through two additional phases of 35.5MW each.
  • The heavy fuel oil (HFO) to power the plant will be transported via pipeline from the Addax jetty, to be constructed north of the site.
  • Wartsila has been chosen as the EPC contractor.
  • Financing is being provided by the IFC, African Development Bank, CDC Group, Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund and FMO.
