Omantel $846 million acquisition of 9.84% in Zain

Overview:

• Omantel acquired a 9.84% stake in Zain for $846 million.
• Omantel and Zain are telecommunications companies based in Oman and Kuwait respectively.  
• The deal saw Omantel buy 425.7 million treasury shares in Zain, which is listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange, for KD0.60 per share. 
• Citigroup Global Markets acted as financial adviser to Zain, Credit Suisse acted for Omantel.
