The Government passed the Employment and Retirement Schemes Legislation (Offsetting Arrangement) (Amendment) Bill 2022 on 9 June 2022 to abolish the use of the accrued benefits of employers' mandatory contributions under the Mandatory Provident Fund (“MPF”) System to offset severance payment (“SP”) and long service payment (“LSP”). While this development is welcome by employees, certain preparation should be made by Hong Kong employers especially for those whose workforce experiences low turnover.

On 23 December 2021, the Financial Services Commission (‘FSC’) published the Guidelines for Issue of Corporate and Green Bonds in Mauritius (‘Guidelines’). The purpose of the Guidelines is to supplement the Guide for the Issue of Sustainable Bonds in Mauritius issued by the Bank of Mauritius in June 2021 (‘BOM Guide’) by elaborating on various regulatory requirements to be adopted by the issuers of ‘Green Bonds’ in line with international best practices and the Guidelines go further by also regulating the issuance of corporate bonds which do not have a ‘green’ element.

On 9/6/1439 AH, corresponding to 25/2/2018, the Minister of Justice, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, issued a decision to amend some articles of the Executive Regulation of the Shariah Pleading Law, where most of these amendments were in the interests of the Commercial Judiciary, in belief of its importance; as it has recently become independent of the umbrella of the Board of Grievances, and is now under the umbrella of the Ministry of Justice.
