2023 was an eventful year in the Energy, Extractives and Infrastructure sectors because of the commencement, progress and completion of key projects including the relocation of Ameri power plants, progress in the Early Power Project, and the granting of Ghana's first lithium mining lease. Notable in energy was the Gold for Oil policy and the start of oil production from Jubilee South-East. Infrastructure saw advances like the completion of priority projects under the Sinohydro deal.Relevant laws enacted included amendments to tax, stamp duty, and income tax acts, as well as the introduction of an emissions levy.Our Energy and Infrastructure team takes a dive into these projects and legislative developments as well as our projections in related sectors in the coming months.

On 9 February 2024, the Province of Mendoza issued Additional Sustainable Bonds for an amount of AR$ 3,193,326,668, in addition to the Sustainable Bonds issued on 21 June 2023 for AR$ 4,876,673,332 under the Prospectus dated 12 June 2023. The value of the outstanding Sustainable Bonds is currently $8,070,000,000,000.

Zepos & Yannopoulos advised DEPA Commercial S.A. in a JV with GEK Terna S.A. and Gener 2 SH.P.K. for the development of the first thermal electricity production unit in Albania. Specifically, DEPA COMMERCIAL S.A. will hold a 35-percent stake in Fier Thermoelectric SHA’s equity capital. The latter was founded in September 2022 by GEK Terna and Albania-based Gener 2 to construct and operate the natural gas-fired unit, with a capacity of 174 MW, at the Relievi Roskovec site.
