Tauil & Chequer Advogados has hired a new corporate partner from Cascione Pulino Boulos & Santos Advogados in São Paulo.

Bruno Aurélio (an IFLR1000 Leading Lawyer), a project development specialist, joins the corporate and securities practice and brings infrastructure and regulatory expertise to the firm. Three associates will also be making the move with him.

“Tauil & Chequer is a firm that’s associated with Mayer Brown, which is a huge company in the world and in Brazil,” Aurélio said when asked why decided to move to Tauil & Chequer. “It’s a firm that’s growing very fast and it’s important to develop my career. We have a lot of clients that could develop this practice.”

Aurélio has worked in infrastructure, regulatory and public law and has experience developing PPPs (public-private partnership). While at Cascione he worked on an urban regeneration PPP for São Bernardo do Campo and also for Porto Maravilha.

Aurélio also spoke with IFLR1000 about where he sees the infrastructure market heading. “I believe that there will be a lot of work in ports and airports. Those are probably the most important sectors that will be developed over the next few months,” he said.

Aurélio had worked at Cascione since 2010, having previously spent two years as an associate at Machado Meyer Advogados. He teaches post-graduate courses at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, has acted special counsel for the Infrastructure Commission for the Federal Council of Brazilian Lawyers and is the director of communications at the Brazilian Institute of Infrastructure Law Studies (IBEJI).
