International firm Simmons & Simmons has announced plans to open a new office in Luxembourg, subject to regulatory requirements and approval.

The firm says it plans to focus on asset management and investment funds work.

The new office will be led by partner Stéphane Ober who will join from Ober & Partners and will be joined from there by Pierre-Régis Dukmedjian. Additional partners include Viviane De Moreau d'Andoy and José Ignacio Pascual Gutiérrez from Arendt & Medernach and Louis-Maël Cogis from Linklaters.

"By opening in Luxembourg, and with Stéphane joining us, we continue to build upon our strengths," said Colin Leaver, head of the firm's asset management and investment funds sector group. "Our new partners complement our existing offering and we are confident of the value they will add to our latest expansion."
