Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has added a new member to its Brussels and German antitrust teams.

Bernd Langeheine, a former deputy director general for mergers at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, joins the US firm as a senior consultant.

Langeheine previously held the role of director of telecommunications policy at the Commission.

Cleary is already recognised as a leader in the EU competition area in Brussels and this hire will only boost the firm's standing further.
