Yiannis Kantas

Yiannis focuses on public procurement & concession projects, privatizations and administrative law. He has a substantial experience in advising international and domestic clients in their participation in public tenders and awarding authorities on the launching of public tenders.

He guides and represents them through all stages of international tender procedures, including at litigation level and advises on all aspects of regulatory and administrative law matters. Yannis has, also, a strong track record in representing clients in privatization procedures in a wide array of industries including infrastructure and energy.

• Macquarie Group on the acquisition of a 49% ownership interest in the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) for € 2.116 bn.
• The sponsor, Aktor Concessions S.A., on the concession of the exclusive right to own, use, administer, operate and exploit the Marina of Alimos for a 40-year period for a total consideration of EURO 57.5 million,
• The preferred bidder (Fraport-Copelouzos consortium) with respect to the tender process for the awarded concession of the management, operation and maintenance of 14 regional airports,
• Macquarie Infrastructure Real Estate Assets Sàrl in relation to the currently ongoing tender process launched by the HRADF for the acquisition of 100% in DEPA Infrastructure, • Copelouzos Group in relation to the currently ongoing tender process launched by the HRADF for the acquisition of a majority shareholding in DEPA Commercial,
• General Secretariat for Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Development and Investments in relation to the currently ongoing tender process for the project of the “Politeia Innovation Centre” through Public-Private Partnership (PPP),
• Macquarie Infrastructure Real Estate Assets Sàrl in relation to the currently ongoing tender process launched by the Public Power Corporation (PPC) for the acquisition of 49% in the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator S.A. (HEDNO),
• GMR Group Limited with respect to the concession of the planned new international airport in Heraklion, Crete,
• Hellenic Petroleum S.A. in the tender process for the sale by its existing shareholders of 50.1% of shares to preferred investors,
• HRADF on the successfully completed privatisation of DESFA, as well as the previously successfully awarded (but not completed) attempt by the HRADF to privatise DESFA and the aborted privatisation of DEPA,
• AviAlliance GmbH in relation to the extension of the duration of the concession agreement relating to Athens International Airport as well as the further privatisation of the Athens International Airport,
• An international consortium in relation to the privatisation of Egnatia Odos Motorway (through the award of a relevant service concession agreement),
• Vodafone Hellas in the successfully completed sale process of Cyta Hellas S.A. as well as the successfully completed acquisition of Hellas Online,
• Hochtief AG on its divestment from Athens International Airports,
• Aegean Motorway S.A., the Concession Company for Maliakos-Kleidi Section of Pathe Motorway, in relation to various disputes with the Greek State under the relevant concession agreement,
• A qualified interested party in the tender process for the privatisation of the Hellenic Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE),
• HFSF with respect to the drafting of the Procurement Regulation,
• Aegean Airlines with respect to its participation in public tenders initiated by the Hellenic Aviation Authority for the operation of air routes within Greece.
