Patricia Cordero is a senior associate and has been part of the corporate team since 2010. She has been active in several of the most complex and relevant financing and restructuring transactions handled by the firm, assisting Alcogal’s banking clients in connection with several high-profile debt restructuring deals. 

Mrs. Cordero is one of our foremost senior associates for banking matters and has participated prominently in several of the most complex transactions handled by the firm:

  • Advised a syndicate of banks acting as lenders in the landmark acquisition of Soho Mall by Inmobiliaria Citelis Panamá and Inversiones Amilena, for US$276.5 million.
  • Following the acquisition by The Bank of Nova Scotia (Panama Branch) of Citigroup’s Panamanian consumer subsidiary, Banco Citibank (Panama), one of the largest banking consumer operations in Panama, Ms. Cordero advised The Bank of Nova Scotia throughout a very complex merger process of Citibank (Panama) (a fully licensed bank) with The Bank of Nova Scotia, both at a commercial and regulatory level.
  • Advised Promerica , as borrower, in connection with a US$223 million secured acquisition finance facility granted by, among others, Bladex, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank. Proceeds of the loan were used to support PFC's acquisition of Citibank's consumer credit card and consumer retail banking businesses in Guatemala.
  • Advised Itaú Comisionista de Bolsa in the sale of Itaú Casa de Valores,its local broker dealer house in Panama. The asset sold represented an important part of the Itaú Group in Panama.
  • Advised Inversiones Vilma, as borrower, in restructuring its outstanding debt with a group of eight (8) banks by way of a syndicated loan guaranteed with a trust which holds real property and future rental cash flows.
