José Lupi

Dr. José Lupi is the founder and Managing Partner of José Lupi & Associates.

He has over a decade of experience in cross-border corporate M&A, banking and finance, private equity, investment funds, securities and debt capital market transactions covering a broad range of sectors from banking and financial services to automotive, retail, real estate, and energy, resources, mining and infrastructure projects in Greater China, Africa, Europe and Latin America, with a special focus in Brazil, Macau SAR, Angola, Mozambique and Portugal.

Dr. José Lupi is qualified to practice in the Macau SAR, Brazil and Portugal and is an appointed arbitrator of the Hainan International Arbitration Court, and a mediator and arbitrator with the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association.

He holds a Ph.D. in International Law, a Master in International Business and a Juris Doctor.

Dr. José Lupi is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian.

• Advised the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited (ICBC Macau) on the successful issuance of its first panda bonds in the total amount of RMB5 billion in the national inter-bank bond market to fund ICBC Macau's business operations.
• Advised China Jinmao Holdings Group Limited from a Macau perspective on the legal restrictions, relevant disclosures and feasibility of extending the offering of shares of Jinmao Property Services Co. Limited to its Macau shareholders in connection to its HK$825 million initial public offering on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.
• Advised China Merchants Securities from a Macau perspective on the legal restrictions, relevant disclosures and feasibility of extending the offering of shares rights issue to its Macau shareholders in connection to its HKD16.35 billion A+H shares rights issue.
