Chipili is the Partner responsible for our Corporate, Finance and Commercial Transactions Dept. with experience in Banking and Finance, Project Development, Corporate Financing, Project Financing and Commercial Litigation.

He was at the helm of the Firm’s team that was advising China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Limited (“NFC”), in relation to the Zambian law aspect regarding the potential acquisition of controlling stake in China Nonferrous Mining Corporation Limited (“CNMCL”) from China Nonferrous Mining Development Limited (“CNMDL”).

NFC is principally engaged in mining and smelting of nonferrous metal products and international projects contracting.

Chipili has over the years become an expert in project financing and general financing and has advised on various cross border transactions involving multinational institutions such as Alliance One Zambia Limited, a subsidiary of Alliance One International; China Import and Export Bank (“CEXIM”); Jumo World Limited and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (“ICBC”).

  • Advised a syndicate of Lenders including The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited in the provision of US$306,000,000.00 to, among others, Grit Real Estate Income Group Limited. A transaction which has been reported by Bloomberg as one of the largest African sustainability linked deals.
  • Advised Jumo World Limited, a mobile financial services platform for mobile network operators and banks, in connection with the US$30 Million Term Loan Facility from GemCorp Capital LLP.
  • Advising Kobold Metals in connection with US$150 million investment for the development of Mingomba Mining Project to a world class mining company. A project which was announced by the President of the Republic of Zambia and reported by Reuters.
  • Advised Alliance One International in connection to US$40,000,000.00 loan facility by the Trade Development Bank.
  • Advised China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Limited in relation to the ESG due diligence (including whether licence compliances with all mining and environmental regulatory requirements under the Mines and Minerals Development Act and Environmental Management Act) against all its five subsidiaries in Zambia.
