Carolina initially worked in the area of ​​real estate and registration law as a collaborator and legal advisor for more than five years in the Real Property and Mortgage Registry of the first section of the center.

At the same time she worked in the area of ​​the Academy as an Instructor and later as Professor at the Dr. José Matías Delgado University in subjects such as Roman Law, Civil Law and Introduction to the Study of Law.

Subsequently, before joining the firm, in 2006, Carolina worked as a legal analyst, in the research and studies area of ​​the Legal Studies Department of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES), which is one from the think tanks of El Salvador.

In 2007, Carolina joined Arias as an associate lawyer, and since her incorporation she has been active in the following areas:

  • In the area of ​​new investment projects in the textile and maquila sector, where he has represented multinational companies in the most relevant investments in this sector in the country on issues related to free zone regimes among others, environmental compliance, energy, corporate , and regulatory compliance related to the operation of said companies.
  • In the area of ​​energy, Carolina has advised different industries on issues related to energy purchase and supply contracts, maintenance of electrical installations, services with the electricity market, among others, and has also advised from a point of view regulatory in the establishment and operation of electrical installations related to the generation and distribution of energy.
  • In the corporate area, Carolina advises different industries and companies including regulatory, environmental and other legal matters related to the operation of such companies. He has also participated in the development and establishment of facilities, due diligence processes, assistance in the development of contractual models and in the execution of these projects and obtaining government authorizations.
  • Carolina has advised various clients in different aircraft financing transactions from a local regulatory point of view, which have involved leases, subleases, guarantees and others, of local air operators, formulating opinions and assisting in other issues related to said transactions such as the registration of documents in the respective registry.
  • In the environmental area, Carolina assists companies and industries both in the establishment of facilities or activities and their operation, analysis of environmental laws or regulations, and has also assisted in specific procedures before the country's environmental authorities.

  • A group of borrowers (Borrower Group) requested a loan of $70 million from a group of lenders (Lender Group) to fund their development plans and repay existing debts.
    Carolina Lazo and her team acted as legal counsel for the Lender Group in El Salvador, ensuring all loan documents complied with Salvadoran law.
  • Carolina provides advice in El Salvador to one of the most important multinational power generation development and operations company in the world. The company develops, builds, owns and operates power generation and energy storage projects in the Americas, Europe and Asia, including wind, solar, and natural gas power generation and energy storage facilities.
  • Arias provided legal advice to Univar Solutions Inc. in the acquisition of the regional chemical company Chemsol in the Central American region. Univar Solutions Inc. is a leading global distributor of chemicals and chemical ingredients, representing a premier portfolio of the world's leading producers. Chemsol, on the other hand, has important companies in Panama and subsidiaries in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Arias provided advice to Univar in all stages of the acquisition, from the initial due diligence process, advice on the applicable legal and regulatory aspects required to make the sale, as well as support in the drafting of the transaction documentation and post-closing actions. In addition, we advised Univar in the identification of risks and the coordination of corporate, labour and tax matters essential for the transaction. We also advised the buyer with antitrust assessments. Carolina was part of the advisors in El Salvador and key in Environmetal aspects of the matter.
