Zaid Ibrahim & Co, Malaysia’s largest law firm, let go of its managing partner who has taken up positions at an ASEAN network of professional service firms and at a Malaysian regional legal network.

Chew Seng Kok joins as managing director at the ASEAN network ZICO Holdings, and as chairman at ZICOlaw, the Malaysian law firm regional network.

Kok, in an earlier media report said: “The introduction of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 is expected to accelerate domestic growth, regional trade and foreign investments, which will in turn generate demand for the regional capabilities and services of our group.”

ZICO Holdings is looking to raise $14.4 million on the Singapore Exchange, which is one of the reasons that Kok decided to give up legal practice.

ZICOlaw is a legal network that supports law firms in multiple jurisdictions in Southeast Asia. The idea grew from Zaid Ibrahim & Co’s desire to expand in the region after the announcement of an ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
Lim Kar Han will step in for Kok and manage a team of senior partners alongside Zaid Ibrahim & Co’s chairman, Datuk Dr. Nik Norzul Thani.
