The Moscow office of Morgan Lewis & Bockius has announced it will be expanding its practice with a team of eight banking, finance and restructuring lawyers – one partner and seven associates – set to join the firm from Gide Loyrette Nouel.
The new team will be led by partner Grigory Marinichev, former head of the banking and finance and restructuring practices at Gide and new partner Konstantin Kochetkov.
Francis Milone, chair of Morgan Lewis, said: "Grigory and Konstantin's team of top-tier finance and corporate transactional lawyers represent many large financial institutions and corporate enterprises that are particularly active in Russia and Europe."
The new additions represent a significant expansion for Morgan Lewis's Moscow practice. The firm was established in 2012, when the entire team joined from the collapsing Dewey & LeBouef, and this announcement marks the first new hire for it since then. The new capability will allow the primarily M&A and capital markets firm to engage in more expansive banking and finance transactions, boosting their capability significantly.
Oleg Berger, recruiting partner for the Moscow office, said: "Grigory's and Konstantin's success in assembling one of the most respected finance teams in the market and their reputation for unyielding client service is consistent with our approach and complements our already formidable team in a key practice area."
