Brazilian firm Xavier Bragança Advogados (XBA) has announced the hire of five partners and eighteen associates, representing a growth of over half the firm's legal staff. The hires from another Brazilian firm come just months after XBA suffered a split of its own.

Bernardo Carneiro, Augusto de Souza, Leandro Cariello, Flavio Galdino, and Silvia Tognetti join the firm as partners after working most recently for Pereira Neto Galdino Macedo Advogados. Carneiro is known primarily as a corporate finance lawyer, de Souza and Cariello focus on M&A law, Galdino is a noted litigator, and Tognetti specializes in tax work.

The associates who join with the new partners also come from Pereira Neto Galdino Macedo Advogados, and several clients are expected to follow the lawyers to XBA. Three of the new partners and eight of the associates will work in the firm's Rio de Janeiro office, while the other two partners and ten associates will be based in São Paulo.

Several XBA attorneys left the firm last October to form De Luca Derenusson Schutoff e Azevedo Advogados in São Paulo. The new partners and associates will help fill some of the vacated roles.

Including the latest additions, the staff at XBA comprises 18 total partners and 70 associates. The firm maintains an office in Brasilia in addition to its locations in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Across the three locations, the firm offers a variety of corporate services in areas including finance, telecommunications, energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals.
