Balcioğlu Selçuk Akman Keki (Baseak) - Dentons has strengthened its competition practice in Istanbul with the hire of seven lawyers and three economists, including partners Şahin Ardıyok and Ali Ilıcak from Actecon, a Turkish competition boutique. The development is Turkey’s largest lateral transfer in the past 12 months.

Ardıyok is one of Turkey’s leading competition lawyers and represents the state at the International Chamber of Commerce’s Competition Commission and acts for clients in mergers and investigations before the local competition authority. Ilıcak is experienced in competition economics and management consultancy. He advises clients in the automotive, manufacturing, advertising, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications sectors.

Galip Selçuk, Baseak’s managing partner and M&A head, said: “Şahin and Ali have outstanding experience and reputations in competition and antitrust law matters in Turkey. Their skill set will complement and strengthen our existing practice in Istanbul and with the addition of such an elite team of lawyers and economists, we will have one of the strongest competition practices in the country.”

Baseak is an Istanbul-based law firm focused on matters ranging from real estate to intellectual property. It formed an alliance with Salans, Dentons’ legacy firm, two years ago and its 55-strong team of lawyers and economists provides Turkish law advice to Dentons.
