Directum-Abogados, the LatamLex firm in Nicaragua, has added a new corporate and commercial partner, Alfonso Sandino Granera, who previously acted as head of the corporate practice at Consortium Legal. Sandino focuses his practice on M&A, foreign investment, real estate and provides general corporate advice to foreign clients. The firm also hired tax partner Samantha Aguilar from Consortium.

In an interview with IFLR1000, Sandino expressed optimism for the investment climate in Nicaragua. “Nicaragua in Central America is one of the best countries to invest in any area, mainly in tourism and construction,” he said.

“The government in Nicaragua in the last two years has approved legislation favourable for investment in Nicaragua. I think Nicaragua is moving forward to creating safe and better processes for investors, this has been one of the challenges of the country, to offer investors faster and easier processes, but I think we are in the right way to achieving that goal.”

LatamLex is a regional network of Central American firms which also has offices in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama. Recently, LatmLex joined The Ibero-American Legal Network (ILN). ILN was founded by Madrid-based Broseta Abogados and connects firms throughout Latin America and Spain.
