Dentons Rodyk & Davidson is the oldest law firm in Singapore, founded in 1861. It has diverse financial and corporate offerings and is particularly strong in banking and finance and project development. The firm forms part of the Dentons ASEAN network, which also includes Dentons HPRP in Indonesia, Zain & Co in Malaysia, and Dentons Myanmar.

 

Focusses / specialisms

The firm’s banking team advises on an array of financing transactions including asset finance, project finance, Islamic finance, leveraged finance and syndicated lending, with expertise in the energy, real estate, natural resources and private equity space.

The capital markets team advises on the full spectrum of domestic and foreign debt and equity offerings for issuers, underwriters, arrangers and dealers.

The corporate team has a focus on oil and gas, power, healthcare, consumer products, real estate and technology.

Key clients include OCBC, DBS, CIMB, ING Bank, HSBC, Citibank, Validus Capital, RBC Investor Services Trust Singapore, Digo Corporation, Boustead Projects, Pacific Radiance and Onstar Express.

 

Research period review: 33rd edition (2022/2023)  

During the research period, the firm was advising lenders on term loans, syndicated loans and acquisition financing.

In the capital markets area, the firm advised on debt and equity transactions. It kept busy with IPOs, secondary offerings, REITs, and other debt market transactions.

The corporate team was very active in cross-border acquisitions for both the buy and sell side. The firm covered clients from different sectors including information systems, technology, healthcare, commodities trading, real estate and energy.

Banking partner Kee Min Lee joined the firm in 2023.

Investment fund partner Emily Low joined the firm after departure from Atlas Asia Law Corporation.

M&A partners Mark Wong, Evelyn Ang, Glenda Lee and Joonkee Bahng joined the firm, while partners Valmiki Nair and Tony Toh left the firm. Ray Chiang got promotion into senior partner.

Project partner Wan Qing Loke left the firm in 2021 and joined Sea Limited.
