Overview:

  • The french state announced the privatisation of both the Lyon and Nice airports, and put both up for tender in March 2016. 
  • The state owns 60% stakes in both airports, alongside the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie of both regions, and other authorities. 
  • The tender of the Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (ACA), the airport of Nice, was won by a consortium made up of Atlantia, Aeroporti di Roma and EDF Invest as prospective purchasers. 
  • The tender of the Aéroports de Lyon (ADL), the airport of Lyon, was won by a consortium made up of Vinci Airports, the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and Predica as prospective purchasers.
  • Financing for the acquisition was provided by Banca IMI, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, CaixaBank, CIC, La Banque Postale, Royal Bank of Scotland, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Société Générale. 
  • The final decision has yet to be taken, awaiting authorization from the competition board.
