Overview:

  • GIC Special Investment and Abertis Infraestructuras have jointly agreed to acquire around 70% of Mexican based toll road operator Red de Carreteras de Occidente from Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners.
  • GIC is a Singapore sovereign wealth fund. Abertis Infraestructuras is a Spanish construction company.
  • Abertis will get a 50.1% stake, while GIC will get the remaining 19.9%.
  • The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2020.
  • Red de Carreteras de Occidente, one of the largest toll road networks in Mexico, owns five concessions which contain 876km of eight toll roads. The roads are the main transportation route in the central-west region of Mexico, connecting the industrial El Bajío with Mexico City and Guadalajara, Mexico’s two largest cities.
