BP $10.5 billion acquisition of BHP shale assets

Overview:

• British Petroleum has agreed to acquire a portfolio of unconventional oil and gas assets from BHP.
• Under the terms of the transaction the company will acquire a 100% stake in BHP's Petrohawk Energy which holds the assets.
• The assets are located in the Eagle Ford, Haynesville and Permian basins in Texas and produce about 190,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily.
• BP acted through its subsidiary BP America Production.
