Overview:

  • French telecommunications company Orange has completed the acquisition of two subsidiaries of Indian company Bharti Airtel in Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso.
  • Orange has acquired a 100% stake in the companies share capital for an undisclosed fee, the aggregated value of the two companies is in the region of €275 million.
  • Airtel is Burkina Faso's second largest mobile phone operator, and the move marks the 20th country in Africa that Orange has operations in, in a list including Chad and Congo Brazzaville.
  • French financial adviser Lazard, and Société Générale acted for Orange. 
  • Arma Partners offered financial advise to Airtel.
