Fujifilm $307 million acquisition of Cellular Dynamics International

Overview:

• Fujifilm has acquired Cellular Dynamics International (CDI) for $307 million.
• CDI is a US developer and manufacturer of human cells for use in drug discovery and screening. 
• Fujifilm will acquire all issued and outstanding shares in CDI for $16.5 per share.
• CDI’s technology platform is used by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine to establish iPS disease cell banks.
• Fujifilm has been targeting the medical equipment and pharmaceutical business for the past few years.
• Goldman Sachs acted as financial adviser to Fujifilm with JPMorgan advising CDI.
