As part of its strategy of internationalisation, Spanish firm Broseta has opened an office in Zurich. Partner Javier Morera, a specialist in tax and private client law, will lead the office and will be joined by a senior associate. It is the firm’s first office outside Spain and it will only practise Spanish law.

The firm has strong clients in asset management and is looking to take advantage of the rapid change in Switzerland’s banking and wealth management industry. Luis Trigo, the firm’s managing partner, said: “The opening of the office will encourage the generation of synergies with the main practices of the firm and will also help the international development of the firm outside of Spain, especially in Latin America, where Broseta already has a significant role in advising clients.”

The office opening is unusual in Switzerland, where the legal market is dominated by strong domestic firms. Although this is Broseta’s first office outside Spain the firm is international focused, working in 35 countries and leading a network of law firms in Latin America.
