Sean specialises in corporate rescue situations. He represents the complete gamut of stakeholders – the financially stressed or distressed companies, the creditors, the shareholders, and the white knight investors. Sean is recognised to be a rising star in his field, winning multiple commendations and accolades from clients and regional ranking publications.

As part of his practice, Sean advises on a wide range of transactions and legal matters. This includes capital markets, securities and debt offerings, securities regulations, corporate finance, banking and finance, debt and corporate restructurings, and corporate advisory work. His practice includes pre-court corporate rescue situations and in-court restructuring and insolvency proceedings. He also regularly advises on major group restructuring projects involving multiple jurisdictions, including Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

  • Advising as Singapore counsel for a group of financial institutions, and subsequently the Joint Provisional Liquidators, in relation to the restructuring of CW Group Holdings Limited, a company then listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, with total liabilities amounting close to HK$2 million. This was a complex cross-border group restructuring involving the courts of Singapore, Hong Kong and Cayman Islands, of a corporate group with operations throughout ASEAN
  • Advising I.M. Skaugen SE on its application for moratorium orders under S211B Companies Act. This application was significant as it was the first to be brought by a foreign company. The ensuing reported judgment in Re IM Skaugen SE [2018] SGHC 259 currently stands as the leading decision in Singapore law on the extraterritorial effect of a worldwide moratorium and the statutory interpretation of S211B(4) Companies Act
  • Advising as Singapore counsel for the Duniatex Group, Mr Sumitro (controlling shareholder and beneficial owner of the Duniatex Group) and AJCapital (foreign representatives of the Duniatex Group) in the restructuring of US$1.5 billion in liabilities and business operations, in a complex cross-jurisdictional restructuring involving the courts of Indonesia, Singapore and New York.
