John Frizgerald Wilson KC is renowned for his problem-solving skills and unmatched ability to advocate effectively for clients. His specialties include trust and commercial litigation and private client advisory. His formidable advocacy was described in 2006 by Baronness Hale in Privy Council Judgement as characterized by “skill, economy and charm”.

  • John F. Wilson advised and represented Lyford Holdings N.V., the former majority shareholder of Lyford International Bank (LIB), in the multimillion dollar sale of LIB to Ansbacher (Bahamas) Limited. The sale involved efficient management of the regulator’s role amidst ongoing disputatious litigation between shareholders of LIB.
  • John Wilson represents a number of Japanese lenders on a ship financing project for the design, construction and delivery of 5 LNG Bahamian registered vessels, advising on aspects of Bahamian law impacting the common terms agreement between the lenders and the borrowers and registration of security in The Bahamas, resulting in a successful financing arrangement valued at approximately $800 million.
  • John currently represents a number of US lenders in connection with a US term loan financing transaction with US dollar denominated first lien secured term loan facility and second lien bond for a shipping company. The transaction includes first lien and second lien mortgages over 4 Bahamian vessels and is valued at approximately $600 million.
