André Robert

André co-heads the Dispute Resolution Group of BLC Robert. He has been involved in legal advice to commercial firms, banks, insurance companies, sugar companies, petroleum companies, textile companies and hotels; litigation for those entities; legal advice to para-statal bodies (mainly the Central Water Authority and Sugar Insurance Fund Board), and litigation for those entities; frequent offshore litigation; chambers work in support of international arbitrations, as well as trade mark litigation.

• Two fraudulent attempts at misappropriation of very big portions of lands cases belonging to sugar estates;

• Acted for a claim for damages in respect of prejudice caused to an offshore company in relation to wrong declarations;

• Acted for claims against the State for damages caused to an insurance company which had to compensate its various insureds following a major flooding in which a good part of the capital was flooded, and also claims against the State on the part of an insurance company which had to compensate its insureds for failure to maintain law and order in the course of major riots;

• Acted for in a major arbitration regarding IT works involving a para-statal body;

• Appeared in a very hefty claim against a South African bank, for alleged wrongful termination of agreement.
