Overview:

  • Everton FC is developing a new £300 million all-seater football stadium at Bramley Moore dock on Liverpool's waterfront.
  • The 50,000 seater stadium will replace the club's existing 40,221 seater Goodison Park stadium.
  • On March 31 2017 the club received approval from Liverpool City Council for the project.
  • The Council is also acting as guarantor for the loan required for the development, establishing an SPV which will sub-lease the stadium lease to the club. In return the council will receive £4.4 million a year from the club as a security fee, according to The Guardian.
  • The initial step for the project is the acquisition of land at Bramley Moore from Peel Holdings.
  • The stadium forms part of the wider £5 billion Liverpool Waters scheme and also will be used as part of the city's bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
  • A full planning application for the site is expected to be delivered before the end of 2017.
