Overview:

  • Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) has acquired a 40% stake in Telefónica's telecommunications infrastructure company Telxius Telecom for €1.275 billion.
  • The deal amounts to €12.75 a share, with KKR acquiring 62 million of shares initially for €790 million, with the option to acquire an additional 38 million shares for €485 million.
  • Telxius was formed in 2016 and owns a portfolio of 16,000 towers across Spain, Germany, Brazil, Chile and Peru and manages 65,000km of submarine fibre optic cables.
