Overview:

  • Facebook acquired Belarus-based technology business Masquerade Technologies for a confidential fee. 
  • MSQRD is the developer of face-swapping mobile device application (app) MSQRD, which allows users to change the way videos and photos look. 
  • The deal will allow Facebook to better compete with rival Snapchat, which acquired Looksery, a facial recognition filter app for photos and videos.
