Qingdao Haier $5.4 billion acquisition of General Electric's appliance business

Overview:

• Qingdao Haier, a member of China’s Haier Group, has completed its $5.4 billion acquisition of General Electric's (GE) appliance business.
• The transaction is Haier's biggest ever.
• The deal comes weeks after GE walked away from a deal to sell the business to Sweden's Electrolux for $3.3 billion.
• BofA Merrill Lynch and PwC Corporate Finance acted as financial advisers for Qingdao.
• The transaction was first announced in January 2016.
