Overview:

  • A Macquarie led consortium - consisting of Macquarie, Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 (MEIF5) and Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) - has acquired the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB). for £2.3 billion.
  • The GIB was launched in 2012 and has to date committed £2.6 billion in capital to over 70 green infrastructure projects.
  • The GIB will manage or supervise over £4 billion of green infrastructure assets and projects.
  • The bank has an existing target of £3 billion of new investment in green projects in the next three years.
