Overview:

  • King Abdulaziz Project for Public Transportation.
  • The project is a $22.5 billion transport project consisting of an urban rail and bus system in Riyadh, including the Metro's six lines covering 176km and a 1150km bus network.
  • Construction on the Riyadh Metro began in 2013 and it is targeted to be completed in 2018, it includes the provision of 756 trains and 85 stations.
  • The FAST Consortium (FCC Construcción, Samsung C&T Corporation, Strukton Civiel Projekten and Alstom Transport) is developing the 30km Orange Line; the 13km Yellow Line; and the 30km Purple Line.
  • The Arriyadh New Mobility Group (ANM) (Ansaldo STS, Salini-Impreglio, Larsen & Toubro, Nemsa and Bombardier) is developing the 40.7km Red Line.
  • The BACS consortium (Aecom and Siemens) is developing the 39km Blue Line.
  • The SR7.8 billion bus network is being developed by Saudi Arabian Public Transport Company and France’s Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP). The contract was signed in November 2014 and includes the supply of 1000 buses covering 22 routes.
