Overview:

  • French chemicals and advanced materials company Arkema acquired adhesive manufacturer Bostik from Total for €1.74 billion. 
  • Arkema is looking to position itself as a market leader in the adhesive industry and this is seen as a key move. 
  • Taking the form of a bridge loan, the financing for the acquisition was raised in early 2015 with a €700 million 1.5% bond issue, as well as a hybrid bond issue and a share capital increase in late 2014.
  • Natixis acted as sole global coordinator, and BNP Paribas, Citigroup Global Markets Limited, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and Société Générale acted as joint lead managers for the capital increase.
