Petronas has acquired Statoil's interest in the Shah Deniz field and other pipelines from Statoil for $2.25 billion.
The Shah Deniz field is a major natural gas field in Azerbaijan. A 2014 statement from Statoil, claimed that the field produces 26 million cubic meters of gas and 53,000 barrels of condensate each day.
Petronas is a Malaysian fossil fuel company, and Statoil is an oil and gas company based in Stavanger, Norway.
