Overview:

  • Hungary's largest bank, OTP, has acquired 90.56% of Société Générale in Montenegro. 
  • The bank also acquired the Albanian subsidiary of Société Générale.
  • France's Société Générale was the fourth largest bank in Montenegro and the fifth largest in Albania. The Montenegro bank was also listed on the Montenegrin Stock Exchange.
  • The transaction is part of OTP bank's series of acquisitions of Société Générale's businesses across Europe to expand further in the SEE region.
