Overview:

  • The University of California, Merced has started a $1.3 billion campus expansion.
  • The expansion will add 1.2 million square feet of facilities.
  • The second phase of the expansion is scheduled for Fall 2018, while the third and final phase is slated for Fall 2020.
  • The University of California Board of Regents entered the development deal with private consortium Plenary Properties Merced.
  • This is the first ever US college campus expansion to use a P3 model.
  • A group of nine investors provided the initial private placement financing.
