Batangas LNG regasification project

Overview:

• The Batangas LNG regasification project is expected to be the first land-based LNG regasification terminal in the Philippines.
• The $1 billion project will also be one of the first private-led regasification projects in Asia. 
• The project is critical to FGEN LNG Corporation—a subsidiary of First Gen, one of the largest independent power producers in the Philippines and which is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange—as its affiliated gas-fired power projects cannot be sustained by the country's declining domestic gas production.
• The project is one of national significance for the Philippines, as it is facing a growing domestic power deficit and requires more power plants. 
• Ashurst (Daniel Reinbott, Matthias Schemuth, Rob Palmer) acted for FGEN LNG.
