International law firm Stephenson Harwood has opened up its sixth office in Asia, this time in Yangon, Myanmar.

The firm ended its association with U Tin Yu and Associates and decided to expand its South East Asia practice to respond to a growing client-base in Myanmar by establishing its own operation in the country.

The new base will be led by corporate and commercial partner Tom Platts, who will oversee the operation from Singapore. Moreover, senior associate Ben Hickson will be transferred to Yangon from Singapore alongside associates Su Wai Phyo and Than Aung, who join from Myanmar-based firms Zico Law and Lincoln Legal.

Stephenson Harwood's global network of offices now stands at ten, while its presence in Asia spans across China, Korea, Singapore, and now Myanmar.
