Global law firm Dentons has merged with Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP), one of Indonesia’s oldest law firms.
This is the latest instalment in Dentons’ bid to strengthen its presence in the ASEAN region—where it already has a foothold in Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar—and will now allow clients access to legal expertise in 75 countries.
Philip Jeyaretnam, Global Vice-Chair and ASEAN CEO, commented: “The launch today of our expansion in Indonesia with one of the largest and best firms there helps us build on our currently strong South East Asia presence.”
Dentons HPRP—the name of the combined entity—is now the fifth largest law firm in Indonesia and is focusing on growth in a variety of sectors including infrastructure, natural resources, renewable energy and FinTech.
Dentons has been actively expanding its global reach with new combinations in Latin America and Asia, and this move follows Dentons’ recent merger with Malaysian firm, Zain & Co.
