Martin Ebner is a partner at Schoenherr, where he is a member of the banking, finance & capital markets practice. Martin specialises in derivatives and structured finance, (corporate) finance, debt restructurings and re-financings, loan sales, as well as limited recourse (project and acquisition) finance. Martin, a member of the Vienna bar, graduated from the University of Salzburg (Mag.iur. 1995) and thereafter earned a post-graduate degree from Pallas Consortium (LL.M. 1997). Martin represents arrangers and lenders active in the region as well as borrowers/issuers in transactional work in Austria and CEE. He has a proven track record in respect of many different transactions in bank portfolios (true sales and synthetics). In addition, Martin is Austrian counsel to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), FIA (previously Futures and Options Association (FOA)), the Section on Banks and Insurance Companies of the Austrian trade association (Wirtschaftskammer Österreich), the Bundesverband deutscher Banken e.V. and the British Bankers' Association on derivatives matters (close-out netting), and also advises numerous banks on derivatives transactions (including collateral structures) with Austrian and Central European counterparties.

  • Advised the board of the Austrian pharmaceutical wholesaler Herba Chemosan Apotheker-AG (Herba Chemosan) on the management buy-out;
  • Advised the Austrian Mayr-Melnhof Holz group in the financing of its acquisition of Swedish sawmill group Bergkvist Siljan;
  • Advised a consortium of six banks, led by Raiffeisen Bank International AG, regarding a EUR 125m credit facility for the Austrian lighting group Zumtobel;
  • Advised Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) as arranger on a true sale securitisation (ROOF 2021) of a EUR 538m portfolio of vehicle leasing receivables by Raiffeisen Leasing Group.
