Chukwuemeka has over a decade experience spanning oil & gas, project development and financing, general commercial practice. He has significant expertise in the negotiation of natural gas transactions. With an MBA in view, he is also involved in process optimisation solutions, including development of automated regulatory compliance solutions for corporates. 

  • Advised NLNG on the US$3 billion hybrid corporate financing, (the first in Nigeria), for the development of NLNG’s seventh liquefaction train. This was a cross-border deal involving a diverse group of global financiers namely, 26 international and Nigerian commercial banks; 2 DFIs and 3 ECAs.
  • Currently leading the team advising a syndicate of 7 financial institutions including a DFI, in the restructuring of circa US$1.2 Billion credit facilities variously advanced to one of the leading indigenous EPCC and related service providers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Currently leading the team advising Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited (WPOL) and its affiliate, Waltersmith Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPC) on:

(a) US$37.8million Structured Debt Notes Issuance Programme for WPOL, with Sterling Bank PLC as Issuer and Underwriter; and
(b) NGN4 Billion financing for an SBLC and a NGN1.6 Billion Back-Up Line from First Bank of Nigeria Limited in favour of WPOL.

  • Currently advising NLNG on its Prepayment Agreements (involving an innovative prepayment structure) for the supply of circa US$4 billion worth of natural gas supply for NLNG’s seventh liquefaction train, by a strategic upstream supplier.
  • Currently leading the team advising the foundation shipper on the West African Gas Pipeline Project,
  • N-Gas. I have for over a decade, managed the entire gas value chain agreements for supply across West Africa, including leading negotiations with the commercial and Governmental entities involved in the project.
