Established in 1995, Dewey & LeBoeuf's Almaty office has built itself a solid reputation in the Kazakhstan market. However, competitors of the firm have mixed feelings towards the firm. "I see Dewey in a lot of deals," says one peer, adding: "They belong here [tier two]. They're generally good." While another says: "Dewey is not a financial firm here. They have a few projects and worked with us where they represented the borrower and we represented the lender. I am not aware of much activity. They are good at oil and gas." Yet another partner states: "Dewey are not tier two. They have a small office business model and do work from London. The local office has not developed properly. They're not a major player at all".
