US firm Winston & Strawn has added a partner to its London and Moscow offices after hiring Andrei Yakovlev from Norton Rose. Yakovlev is a US, UK and Russia qualified corporate finance lawyer who also had a Moscow/London split partnership with Norton. 

He has spent 17 years working with US and UK corporate firms and joined Norton Rose in 2007 from Baker Botts.

His practice focuses on international corporate and sovereign finance and M&A, specialising on the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and on related contentious work. Recent transactions have seen him advise lead managers, issuers and other parties in connection with Rule 144A/Regulation S IPOs, share offerings and GDRs, while advising on the buyer and seller side in M&A deals. Recent clients include JSC Acron and Credit Suisse.

In a press release Winston managing partner Tom Fitzgerald said: "Andrei brings truly exceptional experience that will enable Winston to service the increased corporate finance activity we're seeing in the emerging markets which are strategically important for Winston's further growth".

Norton Rose has lost a number of partners recently including emerging markets focused London corporate partner Simon Cox who left for McGuireWoods (Feb 2012).
