Reed Smith has enhanced its German private equity offering with the hire of SJ Berwin's head of German venture and growth capital.

Justus Binder joins the US firm in Muncih where he will take up the position of head of private equity. He was one of the founders of SJ Berwin's Munich office and focuses on private equity and M&A. Specifically he covers buy-out transactions and venture capital investments.

The move follows Reed Smith's hire of Perry Yam in London at the end of last year (December 2011) which coincided with the firm launching its London private equtiy practice.

Both moves are part of the US firm's increased corporate focus in London, Munich and Paris.
