Sidley Austin has hired a new M&A and private equity partner in Singapore to add to its growing corporate practice in Asia-Pacific.

Charlie Wilson joins the firm from the city-state’s White & Case where he served as head of its Indonesia practice group.

Wilson has practised law in South East Asia for the past 17 years and has a track record advising clients in the natural resources industry. His arrival boosts the US firm’s Indonesian practice.

He was previously international counsel for Indonesia’s national oil company in its proposed acquisition of Venezuelan oil assets of a US-based oil company. He also advised on several sovereign wealth and global private equity funds for investment and dispositions in South East Asia.
