Morrison & Foerster has hired a new investment funds partner in London from King & Wood Mallesons.

Rob Mailer focuses on private investment funds and will join the firm's wider corporate group. He advises sponsors and investors on carried interest schemes, structuring co-investments, spin outs and the establishment of new fund managers.

Recent work includes advising Apis Partners on structuring Apis Growth Fund I, advising Lonsdale Capital Partners on its first mid-market buyout fund, and advising Seedcamp on the setup of Seedcamp III and Seedcamp Investment Management.

King & Wood Mallesons entered administration in the UK earlier in 2017 and a host of partners have moved to other firms. In investment funds these include Michael Halford, Shawn D’Aguiar, Patrick Deasey, Ed Hall and Ajay Pathak who joined Goodwin Proctor; Steven Cowins and Marc Snell who joined Greenberg Traurig; Simon Witney who joined Debevoise & Plimpton; Cindy Valentine who moved to Simmons & Simmons; and Jonathan Blake who joined O'Melveny & Myers.

The King & Wood Mallesons funds teami n the UK had been formed from the team of legacy SJ Berwin before the firm was merged into the global outfit.
