Katten Muchin Rosenman has hired two partners in London as the firm launches its new sector group for asset management.

Funds partner David Brennand will join the firm from offshore outfit Walkers, while regulatory specialist Neil Robson moves across from fellow US firm Schulte Roth & Zabel.

The pair will join the new group led by head of London financial services Barry Breen, who joined the firm from Sidley Austin in 2013. Breen worked with Brennard when both were at Sidley before the latter's move to Walkers.

The decision to create a specific asset management group is born out of the firm's belief that a pure funds group is too narrow and a broader remit is needed to meet the varied needs of the fund management industry.

The US firm has been expanding its broader finance teams over the last 12 months, most notably with the hire of Hogan Lovells private equity lawyer Philip Watkins in January 2014.
