JINDAL POWER, the Indian conglomerate, and SENELEC, the Senegalese state owned electricity company have signed, a PPA relating to a power plant project of 350 MW on 06 February 2014.

The ceremony took place in Senelec’s headquarters, in the presence of representatives from the Indian Embassy in Senegal, the relevant directors of Senelec, and the Managing Partner of GENI & KEBE.

"We’re very happy to sign this PPA with JindaL after two years of negotiation between our respective teams. This is a project of USD 900 million, the biggest ever signed in the electricity sector in this country. We are hopeful that once implemented, it will boost consistently our energy sector," said Mr. Pape Dieng, Chairman of Senelec.

"It’s been a long journey but we’re happy to make it," said Milind Oza, Chairman of the Senegalese branch of Jindal. "Senegal is our first step in West Africa, and we are confident that not only will this project contribute to boost the energy sector in the country, but it will help as well in alleviating economy and investment as well.
