Allen & Overy has hired one of the more experienced private equity partners at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Germany.

Buy-out specialist Nils Koffka will join the UK firm's Hamburg office when he has served his notice period at Freshfields.

Koffka's key fund clients include BC Partners, which he recently advised on the €2.6 billion acquisition of Ceramtec.

Allen & Overy has now hired three private equity focussed partners in the past 12 months. The magic circle firm recruited Dominik Stühle from DLA Piper in December and added Michiel Huizinga from King Wood & Mallesons in early 2017.

Allen & Overy's hiring spree followed Milbank's poaching in, December 2016, of Michael Bernhardt, who was at the time the firm's best-known private equity partner.

Freshfields' German private equity team remains one of the largest in Germany, with eight partners.
